现在很多家长都知道，英语阅读需要从小启蒙。阅读了之后必定要有输出，除了流利的口头交流之外，更重要的是写一篇英语作文。无论中考高考还是申请美国的大学，一篇出挑的作文至关重要。 我们家并非英语家庭，虽然儿子读双语学校，可是每天只有8点到3点的7个小时在学校里，如果再加上休息放假的日子，在家里的时间远超过在学校的时间。家里没有英语环境是个很大的不利因素。所以更应该尽早启蒙，用各种方法有计划地练习。我能够做到的，是帮助儿子搭好文章的骨架，也就是正确的文章结构、语法、句式。 画画阶段 按照美国的教学理念，小学K阶段（相当于国内大班）开始就会布置学生每天20分钟以上的阅读任务。不管是自主阅读还是亲子阅读，读完书之后会要求学生画一幅画来表达“读后感”。不要小看这幅画，是训练孩子开始表达的好工具。  通过画画练习如何表达之后，一般孩子会不满足于此，想要用语言来更准确得表达。这样就引导到了“写”。 乱涂乱写阶段
接着，儿子4、5岁左右开始画火柴人的同时，还要i胡乱配一些文字。对于这个行为，我一直很鼓励他。因为此时“写出来”这个行为要比拼写、语法正确来得珍贵得多。  很长一段时间，我任由儿子乱写乱画。渐渐地，他写的句子越来越长，越来越像样。  命题写话阶段 再后来，等到儿子6岁时候，我开始教儿子围绕一个主题，写4、5句连贯的句子。担心一般的命题写作太抽象，我选择看图写画。有时候也会等他看完一本书后，写一个相关的小故事。  例如有一次看完《the rainbow fish》，我叫他也写一段关于分享的故事。 
 不断地练习之后，儿子写故事的时候如何在开头交代人物，如何让事情发展，再如何收尾 ，已经颇有心得。他也常常自由发挥，写一些小故事。比如这个《Four Balloons on vacation》 The Four Balloons on Vacation Blue, red, and yellow were three balloons that are triplets. One day they were stuck on a tall tree with their Mom Balloon. When it was just the time that they were almost awake---Suddenly , a storm came, and the four balloons started to wiggle...... Then PLOP,PLOP,PLOP,PLOP, the four balloons started to fly. First they reached a skyscraper, then they reached the clouds. At last the were stuck on a plane that leads to U.S.A. So the balloons all agreed to go on a vacation.They stayed on the plane's wing and fell asleep. The next morning, as they woke up, they were not on the plane's wing any more! They were floating on New York City! They were all excited but a little bit worried, cause how would they get down any way? Suddenly a plane passed by, and they got stuck on the plane again. Ha,Ha, Ha! It took a few hours until the plane landed and some security guards took the four balloons off and gave them to some kids. One gave to William, the second one gave to his sister, others gave to his Mom and Dad. But the families did not want them. The next day, the family woke up, and the first thing they did is throwing the balloons out the window. Then the four balloons took a few hours to arrive at China again. When they were at China, they stuck on a tree gain and they got a drink and slept. ZZZZZZZZZZZ in a loud voice. 
 有一天，我突然有一个灵感，把牛小写的小故事，做成漂亮的“绘本”，一定能让他高兴得蹦起来，让他更有动力多写一些。虽然只是简单得配一个插图，我们两个一起设计，一起排版，一起画。比如上面写的这个《Four Ballons on Vacation》，最初想把小故事打印出来，然后在空白处画画，尝试之后效果并不好。我们还是决定先画草图，再画到素描纸上，最后再把文字抄写上去。  这是抄写好之后的效果。牛小宝果然对这个自己做的绘本得意地不得了，到处拿给朋友看，宛如自己已经是诺贝尔文学奖得主了。这个工作我们至今还在继续，积攒多了之后，可以装定成册。
